Are you working harder than your money?

Scriptural Financial Freedom Obtaining God's blessings

Are you working harder than your money?

How do you get work to work for you? Sounds like a dream? Not at all. Yet of course, we are by no means asking you to quit your job or to stop working. So how do we get money to work for us?

There are many effective ways to make your money work harder for you without you spending a lot of time trying to manage it. These fundamental strategies aren't difficult, don’t require budgeting or complicated schemes, and will work regardless of your level of income.

Let's look at that from a this perspective: Is mammon your master or your slave? Obviously you can't serve two masters. So how do we employ money as our slave? Well, first of all we have to deal with our attitudes toward money and acknowledge this fact: God owns it all. Yes, everything from your piggy bank to your tumbling stocks to the coins lost in your sofa. Even your job. Secondly, money is never an end in itself, but is merely a tool to reach goals, obligations and accomplish what the Master wants.

So the first thing you have to do is get out of debt. Repay all your loans and stop borrowing. That is the first and basic step to financial independence. If you have debt and you are saving at the same time, you are probably paying a higher interest rate on your debts than you are earning on your savings.

But s it wrong for christians to have financial independence? The answer is simple, no it is not wrong unless it is independent from God. Once you get that right, then you'll understand that money is nothing more than a resource provided by God to allow us to accomplish His purposes.

Remember the example of Solomon, in his dream he did not ask God for riches or wealth but instead he asked for wisdom. Godly wisdom. Wisdom to serve His people. He knew who his Master was, and he knew what matters more than money. You know the result. He got more than just wisdom, but riches and wealth as well.

But what is wealth? If you want to create wealth, it will help to understand what it is. Wealth and blessing does not always equal money. Wealth is as old as human history, money is actually a comparatively new and recent invention. If you put your money in a bank deposit, it is very safe but you don’t get a real lot out of that decision. In fact, with adjusted inflation, that money doesn't really retains its value well. But if you put your money into a property in a good location, over time it value grows and grows and grows.

Today's Bottom Line

Acknowledge God is not just as your Master but that He owns everything you have. And decide today to make money your slave.
